The Bellmore Fire Department Public Information Officer serves as the official spokesperson for the Chiefs and the Board of Fire Commissioners.
At fires, accidents and other emergency incident scenes, the PIO gathers information and arranges on-scene interviews for members of the press to meet their broadcast and print deadlines.
The PIO also photographs and writes stories about emergency incidents, as well as training sessions and other department-related activities for such publications as Bellmore Herald, 1st Responder, (newspaper and the website), Fire News, FASNY’s Volunteer Firefighter, and other publications.
The mission of the Public Information Officer is to provide the general public with information highlighting the dangerous and difficult work of the dedicated men and women of the Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department, and to provide potentially life-saving fire safety information to help keep residents and their families safe.
